It will be our wild game feed potluck. So please bring a dish of some of your wild game to share and if like me, didn't get anything then a covered dish or a dessert will work too. Just to update the membership that we will be hosting the States Membership Convention for the weekend of Friday April 22nd and Saturday April 23rd with the State Trap shoot on Sunday the 24th. I have heard from some of you and can use more help. If you have replied then thanks I will get in touch with you and I have a few others I will be calling too. Please let me know by my email, or you can call or text me at 515-229-7418. We are working on plans this spring to get some targets out now on our archery range so that practice can be held there for our youth group. Our Trap teams from Grand View, Simpson and the High school clubs are now getting out on the range if the weather is nice. And then our spring trap leagues will be getting in gear in April too. I wanted to thank Warren Gardner for putting together some bench rests and some bags of spent primers that many from the trap shooters donated. There is a box on the rifle range that these are kept in. So please when you are done using them put them away would be appreciated so that all can enjoy the use of these items. We have a member Brenda Wendt, that could use some help with bird wings to help train some of their dogs. She is looking for frozen intact/feathers waterfowl (Mallards would be great) quail, pheasant etc. If they have been frozen for several years isn't a problem. Please reach her at wendtbrenda@gmail.com. She is in need of specimens to imprint her conservation detection dog to their odor. The company she works for is starting a new program to search under the solar panels that sadly kill waterfowl, pheasants and quail. So the sooner she can get help with these wings the better. Hope to see you in a couple of days at our meeting.

We will be needing to take down all the tables and chairs afterwards as Phillips Flooring will be coming in to resurface our wood floor.

Doyle Adams

Past Warren County Ikes President Doyle Adams Passes on Dec. 8, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time member, past chapter president and former Iowa Division President Doyle Adams on December 8, 2020. In the 1990s Doyle served as president of the Warren County Ikes. In the early 2000s Doyle served as Iowa Division President. Doyle grew up hunting and fishing on the Mississippi River at Burlington, Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State University, he went to work for the Iowa Conservation Commission (now the Iowa DNR) where he spent his entire working life, retiring as Director of Parks. Doyle was very keen on preserving Iowa's landscape and providing access for outdoor activities to all. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Iowa County Conservation Board System, an envy of most other states. Doyle was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted all over the USA, Canada and several other foreign countries. Doyle also served on the founding committee of the Three Rivers Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and he served many years as the emcee at their annual banquet. Thank you, Doyle, for all you did for the Warren County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America. We are forever indebted.
